Research areas

  • Trapping mesoscopic absorbing particles in air using photophoretic forces.

Photophoretic force is a very fundamental force which plays vital role in planet formation and also it has interesting applications ranging from aerosol studies to 3D volumetric display. This force arises either due to an uneven temperature gradient or an uneven thermal accommodation coefficient which is created using a loosely focused laser light. I am currently studying the dynamics of absorbing microscopic particles trapped in air using this force.
